After reading an Islamic fiction series back in high school that turned out to be one of my favorite series, I searched for more. To my surprise, there were a ton of Islamic fiction titles online! Unfortunately, my local libraries didn't have many options and the few they did have, I eventually read. I still wanted to read more, but my only choice left was to buy them myself. Since then, I have been looking out for Islamic fiction books to buy, read, and add to my growing collection. (Don't worry, I still read and love some non-Islamic books. There is nothing wrong with a variety in my opinion ;)
Why Did I Start this Business?
I thought about sharing these and many more books by Muslim authors. A "library" for Muslims was suggested and sounds nice, but it isn't practical. I finally decided to start a small business selling fiction (and some non-fiction) books by Muslim authors locally to readers interested and willing to buy them.
What's With the Name?
Books by the Dozen has books by and mostly for Muslims, but also for non-Muslims who like to read and are interested in books by Muslims. I have books for 3rd graders-college students. Adults could easily fall into the latter category. This might be a big audience, but I found some books for these age groups that I think they might enjoy.
My audience was important to consider when naming this business because I know some non-Muslims who I would share this news with. I wanted a name that didn't sound too specific to Muslims, but was still book related. The saying, "cheaper by the dozen" was stuck in my head for some reason when coming up with a list of potential names. I also asked around for suggestions and in the end, I decided to stick with Books by the Dozen.
Goals/ Mission
1. Sell as many books possible by Muslim authors locally (first).
2. Encourage people (young, older, females, males, Muslims, and non-Muslims) to read (mostly) Islamic fiction books instead of just mainstream ones.

2. Prices at http://booksbt12.blogspot.com/ are
just right (in my opinion :) I took into consideration prices at other retailers. From personal
experience shopping for books in the past, I have spent extra on minimum
purchases, shipping, taxes, etc. Unless I have a sale or you want your order shipped (rather than hand delivered (see orders and feedback)), none of the mentioned "extra fees" will be required.
